Monitoring fee Watchdog - LINK

The Watchdog LINK is always connected to the GSM telephone network, hence there is always a fee for monitoring. This fee is pre-paid for ONE year from physical installation date to all the users.

The Watchdog LAN and WiFi have free monitoring for 3 years (Then $30 USD per year).

The monitoring service is pre-paid and an automatic renewal is the default. One month before expiry date, we email you a reminder of renewal and we will ask you for a credit card or PAYPAL for a recurring charge of $120 USD for the year

There will be NO refunds or partial refunds for the period in question. The subscription is PRE_PAID. If you do not want to renew the subscription, remember to disactivate the auto-renewal before expiration date. The service will continue to be active until expiry date.

Some of our dealers have expressed the desire to bundle the monitoring with their service contract so that the end user would receive invoices only from his dealer. We therefore have come up with a quantity discount pricing for the dealers who want to bundle our service with theirs. Dealers can find more information under the PDF section, after logging in with their approved dealer ID.

Watchdog - LAN

Satellite Internet Watchdog - LAN
This FAQ is based on feedback from 3 users, the first two in northern Ontario, the third one in Belize.
1. The satellite modems seem to keep a PERMANENT memory cache, both for DNS lookups and HTTP pages. The only way to remove this memory is to power off the satellite modem and on again.
2. One user experienced a "ping" reply time no less than 600 ms. He was not able to use our Watchdog Wifi as it kept looping in an attempt to connect. The same user tried a Watchdog LAN which worked, but on igenerac.net after 20 minutes the status changed to OFF LINE.
For both, WiFi and LAN, we suspect that some canadian satellite providers program their modem not to send packets that have already been sent.
All watchdogs transmit always the same status every 5 minutes. If the satellite modem does not transmit it because it thinks it did already, then our server never receives the "pings", and eventually it thinks the unit is off line.
LAN hardware reset

Like many electronic devices, sometimes it is necessary to do a HARD reset.

When is necessary to do it?

- When you have a steady and or slowly flashing RED LED, probably a steady YELLOW LED, which means the unit is probably hung trying to communicate with the server,

- and you have an OFF-LINE status for a fairly long time

- and you know that the generator works, you have power, and your LAN is working

Hardware Reset means removing the 12V power to the Watchdog LAN unit, and reconnecting the power source.
To do this you need to remove the plastic cover, then identify the +12V wire, disconnect the pin, and after 10 seconds re-connect it.

Watchdog - WiFi

Meaning of LED's on Watchdog WiFi

Flashing green is all OK. It means that the wifi is online and connected.

Solid green means that it's trying to connect or is rebooting.

RED LED means connection broken.

Red and yellow LED flash (at installation or reboot) because of the following sequence:
1. wifi connects
2. monitor sees wifi up, sets DNS/IP settings, accepts DHCP from router
3. monitor sends ping

Generally the sequence should stop here, with a yellow LED flashing. Red should go off.

However if:
4. wifi loses access point, red LED continues to alternate with yellow LED

Then:
5. after a couple secs, repeat from #1 and loop forever

In this case, if it continues to loop as described, the monitor is unable to talk to the server, and may not even auto-register itself.

The issue is often caused by an incompatible DHCP protocol between Watchdog and router. It often can be resolved by simply using a STATIC IP such as 192.168.1.250 (means reconfiguring the Watchdog).
Reset of Watchdog WiFi

Performing a WiFi Reset

A Watchdog WiFi reset should be performed if there is no communication with the server, or the Wi-Fi information stored on the Watchdog needs to be changed (for example, the wifi router and password were changed).

Depress the Wi-Fi SETUP button for 5 seconds and then release it. The RED and GREEN LED will start flashing and alternating.

After the Wi-Fi reset has completed, as soon as the Wi-Fi network “Igenerac” is available, you should connect to the igenerac wifi at http://192.168.1.1, http://1.2.3.4, or http://config. (note the dot at the end).

Please de-select the DHCP check box, and select a STATIC IP instead. We suggest you use .250 as the last number of the IP.

Example (depending on your router):
STATIC IP:   192.168.2.250
MASK:         255.255.255.0

GATEWAY   192.168.2.1

Performing a FACTORY Reset

A Watchdog FACTORY reset should be performed if everything else fails. A factory reset clears all the programs and memory, and reloads the operating system from the firmware.

Depress the Wi-Fi SETUP button for 35 seconds and then release it. A BLUE led may light up/flash and he RED and GREEN LED will start flashing and alternating when you release the button.

The unit is now in the original factory configuration. You will need to re-program the unit as described above.
How to REBOOT a Watchdog WiFi

The Watchdog is like your wifi router or your computer. It executes preloaded software.

It's generally not necessary to perform a "reboot", but the way to do it is to unscrew the cover, and then disconnect the 12 volt wire from the board (the only one with 2 pins instead of 3 pins). Wait 5 seconds and then plug it in again.

Flickering or steady green LED is a good sign. The yellow LED flickers when it is transmitting the status packets.

If you have one or more than one monitor already registered, you can see the current status on - http://igeneratormonitor.com - and login using your email address.
Can I change my login email on iGeneratorMonitor.com?

YES! On the monitoring server - iGeneratorMonitor.com - you need to login with your current email, then edit your customer record. Here you can override the login email address with your new one, and if you wish, a new password. The next time you log in, you will have to use the new email. All the history remains untouched.
